✨ Achieve Up to 300 Parts per Minute While Minimizing Misfeeding and Minor Stops✨
Small shafts and pins are widely used in industries such as:
- Automotive manufacturing
- Industrial machinery
- Precision engineering
Since these components are typically produced in high volumes, manufacturers require production that is fast, cost-effective, and consistently reliable.
However, due to their small size, handling and orientation are particularly challenging, while manual inspection is often limited in both speed and consistency.
For production volumes ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of parts, inspection automation and labor reduction have become increasingly important.
■ Application Example
This example features an image inspection system for a Ø3.0 × 20 mm tubular shaft.
The system inspects:
- Both end-face dimensions
- Part deformation
- Outer diameter
- Overall length
- Chamfer dimensions
- Internal tube condition
while achieving a throughput of approximately 200–300 parts per minute.
■ Automated Feeding and Positioning
The workpieces are first oriented using a Parts Feeder.
They are then separated one by one through a carrier mechanism similar to a Ferris wheel before being transferred onto a Glass Table Jig for image inspection.
Accurate part orientation and stable feeding ensure continuous, high-speed inspection performance.
■ The Challenge Is Not Only Inspection—It’s Feeding
For small shafts and pins, one of the biggest challenges lies not only in inspection but also in part feeding.
Common production issues include:
- Shafts entering the inspection station at an angle
- Parts jamming or interlocking during feeding
- Frequent minor machine stops caused by feeding instability
These are common concerns in many high-speed manufacturing environments.
■ Flexible for Multiple Products
Although designed as a dedicated inspection system, the machine offers excellent flexibility.
By simply replacing the carrier and table jig, it can accommodate a wide variety of workpieces.
This allows manufacturers to enjoy the advantages of a dedicated system while maintaining flexibility similar to that of a standard inspection machine.
■ Recommended Applications
