Because rivets are typically produced in very large quantities and have a relatively low unit cost, manual inspection is often labor-intensive and inefficient.
To address this challenge, NANO’s Glass Table Standard Inspection Machine provides an effective automated solution.
In addition to inspecting the rivet body dimensions and profile, the system can accurately detect dimensional defects in the riveting section (hollow depth)—one of the most difficult features to measure using conventional inspection methods.
■ High-Precision Inspection System
The system is equipped with three 1.3-megapixel CCD cameras, capturing images from both the side and bottom of each workpiece.
It automatically detects:
- Dimensional deviations within a 0.1 mm tolerance range
- Part deformation
- Mixed-part contamination
In this project, approximately 200,000 hollow rivets made of tough pitch copper were automatically inspected, enabling the customer to improve both product quality and production efficiency.

The system is not limited to metal rivets.
It can also inspect various fastening components, including:
- Plastic rivets
- Resin fasteners
- Other fastening products with different materials and geometries
Although this project utilized the Glass Type Standard Machine for flat hollow rivets, the system is equally capable of inspecting truss rivets and round hollow rivets.
Because it is based on a standard machine platform, customers benefit from lower implementation costs compared with fully customized equipment while still achieving reliable 100% automated inspection.
