This week, we would like to introduce our Length Measurement Machine.
As we also operate a mass-production factory ourselves, we understand firsthand how challenging it can be to maintain high accuracy while keeping equipment costs under control.
For example, one of our main products is a shaft component that requires total length control within a tolerance of just 60 microns after spherical machining on one end.
Since an incorrect overall length can cause problems in the following process, 100% inspection is essential.

Rather than trying to incorporate numerous inspection functions, we deliberately focus on length measurement to provide efficient and reliable sorting.
By concentrating on one specific measurement, the overall cost of the sorting machine can be significantly reduced while enabling real-time inspection feedback on the production line.
This helps prevent defective parts from being passed to the next process and contributes to stable operation throughout the production line.
■ Optimization, Rather Than More Functions
When designing an automatic sorting machine, it is easy to think, “Why not make the machine measure everything automatically?”
However, adding more functions also increases the cost and system complexity, making setup and adjustment more difficult.
As a result, some machines may not be used to their full potential due to lower operating rates or variations in inspection accuracy.
By focusing on a simple inspection function while maintaining flexibility for different applications, we aim to achieve the ideal balance of “practical operation + low cost + high production efficiency” without disrupting the production flow.
Even in a factory with multiple production processes, breaking the inspection down by process and focusing on “one simple measurement at each process” can ultimately be an effective way to maximize productivity.
