Automatic Sorting Machines for Nuts, Screws and Bolts: How to Choose the Right One

✨Automatic Sorting Machines for Nuts, Screws and Bolts: How to Choose the Right One✨

Choosing an automatic sorting machine for nuts, screws and bolts is not only about speed.

The most important factor is the feeding method that suits the part shape. If the part is not stable, the camera cannot capture it accurately.

This guide explains how to choose.

■ 4 things to know before choosing

  1. Part shape and size: can it stand on its own, does it have a head, how long is it, what is the diameter?
  2. Defects to detect: e.g. damaged threads, chipped heads, wrong dimensions or length, burrs, mixed part numbers. This decides the number of cameras and angles.
  3. Required speed: how many parts per day, to compare the cost with manual inspection.
  4. Invisible defects?: hardness or wrong material require eddy current testing.

■ Machine selection by part type

Part characteristics Examples Recommended machine Approx. speed
Stands on its own, flat base Nuts, bushings, rivets, washers, O-rings Glass table (VIZION / UAZNC) 300–800 parts/min
Has a head, hangs by the neck Screws, bolts Index type (VIZION / UAZNC) Up to about 300 parts/min
Cannot stand, long or unstable Long parts VIZION FERRIES1 Depends on part
Shafts, pins Motor shafts, pins DECSYS shaft circumference & ends inspection Depends on part
Small screws in high volume M3–M5 screws Special high-speed system Up to 2,000 parts/min

This is a first guide; Nano Seimitsu engineers confirm it after testing your real parts.

■ Sorting machine brands Nano Seimitsu supplies in Thailand

  • VIZION (Taiwan): the fastest machines in our lineup; 4 CCD cameras for size, deformation and foreign matter; Glass table, Index and Ferries types.
  • UAZNC (China): 8 CCD cameras in one machine, 4 at 90° for all-round inspection; external defects from 100 µm.
  • DECSYS: detailed appearance inspection: SA-C semi-automatic equipment, shaft inspection and linear inspection with up to 5 cameras.
  • CCM (Taiwan): vision sorting machines with AI added by Nano to judge borderline defects closer to the human eye and reduce good parts rejected.

■ Don’t forget feeding and packing

Sorting machines work with parts feeders, and counting or automatic packing can be added, reducing labour in both inspection and packing.
