This week, we introduce our High-Speed Eddy Current Inspection System, a non-destructive testing (NDT) solution designed to detect surface cracks, defects, and material abnormalities in metal components.
Eddy current inspection works by bringing an alternating-current coil close to the workpiece. The magnetic field induces eddy currents on the surface of the material, and the system analyzes changes in the signal waveform to accurately determine whether each part is OK or NG.
■ The Challenge with Conventional Inspection
In conventional eddy current inspection for bolt head crack detection, each workpiece must complete a full rotation to inspect its entire circumference.
As a result, inspection throughput is typically limited to approximately 30–60 parts per minute, which can become a bottleneck in high-volume production.

To overcome this limitation, NANO developed a High-Speed Standard Eddy Current Inspection Machine.
The system incorporates a mechanism similar to a thread rolling process inside a rotating disc, allowing the workpiece to spin on its own axis while the inspection coil continuously follows its movement.
This enables complete 360-degree inspection of the workpiece while achieving an impressive throughput of up to 300 parts per minute.
