Traditional image processing systems can, in simple terms, make only a “black or white” decision — essentially OK or NG. This makes it difficult to judge the “gray zone” between OK and NG.
This is especially challenging when inspecting gear components with complex shapes, where stable inspection results can be difficult to achieve.
We solved this challenge by combining a color camera with AI.
The system can detect dents, scratches, rust, and stains of 1 mm or larger, while also improving detection accuracy in areas that were previously difficult to inspect.
This enables flexible judgment similar to the way the human eye evaluates visual defects.

As this is a standard machine, the system is designed to minimize changes to the cameras and lighting conditions.

■ Simple Implementation — AI Learning is Just “Take Photos and Mark the Areas”
- Capture approximately 50 OK images and 100 NG images
- Use the dedicated AI tool to mark the areas of interest
- The AI automatically learns from the images
The initial model creation takes several hours, but subsequent adjustments can be completed in approximately 20–30 minutes.
In addition, the AI function can be used simply by adding it as an add-on to the existing program.
A separate model can be trained for each camera, and AI judgment can be switched ON/OFF with a single switch.
To confirm whether the system can be used with your own parts and what level of inspection accuracy can be achieved, we can evaluate the system using actual product samples.
